March of Dimes

Miss March of Dimes Mary Ann Lavallee, 24, St. Ambroise

Twenty-four-year-old Mary Ann Lavallee of St. Ambroise, Manitoba, has been selected Miss March of Dimes for 1971. Mary Ann contracted polio in 1949 at the age of three. This resulted in paralysis of the left leg, and she now wears an above-knee brace on that side. As Miss March of Dimes for 1971, Mary Ann will represent all physically disabled adults of Manitoba. The provincial objective is $75,000, and the campaign will be conducted in January in all areas of the province where The Society for Crippled Children and Adults of Manitoba is not a member agency of a local United Way.
