United Appeal

City’s United Appeal receives first contribution

Portage’s retail merchants stepped into the breach today with some operating capital to help the United Way organize in Portage. A cheque for $100 -- for incidentals -- was presented by Laverne Hebner on behalf of the retail merchants section of the Chamber of Commerce to United Way chairman Harvey Carmichael.
