Portage Collegiate Institute Athletic Awards
Bernie Shewchook of Portage Collegiate was the winner of the Barry Sharp Memorial trophy at the PCI Awards banquet Wednesday evening at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. George Cochrane, physical education director at PCI, on the left, is making the presentation. The trophy is awarded annually to the PCI student who best combines leadership and athletic qualities. The trophy was donated by the Mercury Fastball team, with which Barry played.
Jim Mulvey and Ray Nance won the intermediate and primary classes respectively at the Portage high schools track and field meet this year. Jim on the left and Ray were presented with their trophies at the annual PCI awards banquet Wednesday at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.
Most valuable players - on both Portage Collegiate teams this season received their trophies on Wednesday evening at the annual PCI awards presentation at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. Ralph Rowley, coach of the PCI Pats is on the left as he presents the trophy, donated by himself, to Gloria Owens. Ryan Gray on the right, is presented with the J. Green trophy, awarded annually to the most valuable player on the PCI Trotters.
