School Curling Winners Declared
The Daron Harder rink, winner of the junior high-school curling championship Thursday. The rink, from the La Verendrye school, defeated Keith Tidsbury from the Crescentview school in the finals. From the left team members are Harder, Ron Nagribianko, Don Nagribianko, and William Boak. Helen Wilde, president of the ladies' evening curling club, presented the trophies donated by her club.
The Jeff Rice rink, skipped by Cam Bird won the B group in the junior high-school curling playoff. From the left team members are Cam Bird, Derrell Beddome, and Kevin Yuill. Jeff Rice is missing from the picture. June Moffatt, president of the La Reine ladies' afternoon club, made the presentation of the trophies donated by her club.
On the left is Vaughn Greenslade, chairman of the junior high-school curling league and director of the free-of-charge coaching program carried out among high school curlers. Right is Zane Matiation, the school representative to the league, which recently completed a highly successful season.
