Education Week in Portage school

Education Week in Portage opened Monday with visitations by parents to two schools. At top Mrs. Lillian Russell leads her class through a rousing sing-song just before classes were dismissed at Prince Charles school. ln the second photo, teacher Mrs. Ivan Gates at Koko Platz school checks over the work of one of her students — who just happens to be Kevin Gates.

Registration at La Verendrye school Tuesday for the Education Week program was heavy. Here Mrs. M. Proden signs the registry while son John and Beverley Lavallee look on. Classes were dismissed at 3 p.m. and parents visited with the teaching staff until 4 p.m.

It was reading time in Mrs. MacDonald's grade two class at North Ward school Wednesday afternoon when the Daily Graphic photographer called. Several parents were on hand during the afternoon to see the class in action and later to visit with teachers at North Ward.

“All together now” — Gordon Watson leads a grade two class through an action song during parents’ visitation at Victoria school Wednesday afternoon. The school program was a part of the Education Week schedule of visits in Portage schools.

Arithmetic was the subject when the Daily Graphic photographer visited Fort la Reine and North Memorial schools Thursday. At top a couple of budding mathematicians do some division in Miss E. Rigaux’ grade three class at Fort la Reine, while at bottom some parents get a lesson in the cuisenaire system in Miss J. Shelfontuk’s grade one room at North Memorial. who just happens to be Kevin Gates.
